Video Shooting Techniques

Today Luz will be coming in to pass on her wealth of experience in the video shooting field.
Luz is a broadcast journalist from Chile.......
Later.......
We have had a very successful video day. Before we launched off into the realm of filmmaking etc Luz took us through some fundamentals like the camera can only capture a part of what we see, the human desire to capture what we do see and how to plan well to capture the story we are trying to tell or moment we want to convey.
If you came into the programme today you would have been captured by the buzz and energy of all the creativity at work....it is a truly energising experience. Some were off planning shots, some were videoing with Luz, some were doing action shots, with Spencer, using a special camera attached to a bike helmet.
I really wish I could show you the results right here and now, but the thing about videoing is the editing stage is labour intensive. So I'll leave you with another movie trailer by the young girls yesterday. Funnily I found it quite poignant, the shots they chose and music etc....(Will post all video as we get through the editing)

Highlights from Basic Engineering Techniques with Kim Brice

It started with an egg and materials found round the home Would their egg survive dropping from a height and land without cracking? There would be some prospective engineers I would climb into any aircraft they built, but some I am afraid I would think twice about, after seeing some splatter lol. Kim 's workshops never ceased to amaze me how all the children were engaged and on task. That is a great skill.  Engineers need to test their design Did the egg land safely ??? Yikes was privileged to host three workshops tutored by Kim Brice. The kids were engaged and learnt valuable skills and were able to enjoy the journey of design and engineering. Kim is a local designer and business owner ~ click here to learn more about Kim and his business.

Animation Friday

WE FINISHED OFF WEEK 1 FOCUSING ON ANIMATION! Scroll over the images below and press play: Take off and Landing by yikesnelson , made at DoInk.com  Animation is so much fun. Animation is also quite a detailed process, so the online software we used really helps beginners get a taste for the process and it is also possible to start out as a stick figure artist and progress to hollywood type ventures! Girl skipping by YikesNelson1 , made at DoInk.com Arts Section Today we did some profiles of the childrens faces and we showed the children how to proportion where their eyes, nose and mouth goes. And how to start showing some shading, the light, the dark, and the shadows throughout the face. And we learnt how to use the rubber to show the light on the face as well.
